一般来说，飞机紧急出口处的座位不能选择，这是为什么呢?依据规定，航空公司不能将紧急出口处的座位安排给老人、儿童、身体状况不佳者、残疾人、孕妇及其他特殊旅客。据介绍，坐在紧急出口处的旅客应承担“应急员(first responder)”责任，如在飞行过程中发生意外事故，应该协助空乘人员，打开紧急出口舱门(emergency exit door)、放置好逃生滑梯(slide escape)或气垫(aircushion)并协助其他乘客逃生。由于紧急出口舱门非常沉，乘客要有足够的力气才能打开它，因此，乘务人员会协调一些年轻力壮、有多次飞行经验的旅客乘坐这类座位。
